Girolamo Scimone is a 65-year-old man, who lives in Palermo. He always had a strained relationship with women, who never found him attractive. He is intimately attracted to beauty, but he refuses all flattery for fear to be involved in any way. He spends all the time between the job and the horses, but his everyday life changes when he meets Victoria. For the first time in his life, he feels the deep consequences of love.
